William Pressley Durst IV of Summerville tragically died in a car accident Monday night November 4, 2024 on his way back from picking up prescriptions for his youngest son who is fighting leukemia. Will was born September 10, 1979 in Charleston, son of William and Mary Durst. He grew up with his younger brothers Thomas and Joseph on Sullivan's Island and graduated from Bishop England High School. He ventured north to Franciscan University of Steubenville, graduating in 2003. After college he returned to the local Piggly Wiggly where he had worked part time since he was 15. Will loved interacting with all the people that came into the store, and with his fellow employees. To Will there were no strangers, only friends he had not yet met. In 2015 he moved down the street to join Publix where he moved up in management. Will had an incredible work ethic and was valued and loved by all the people he worked with. His family and co-workers also know Will for having a corny sense of humor that was second to none. He was always joyful and happy to see you. As one customer said, "To know Will was to love Will." He was a loving and caring son, calling his mom daily to see if there was anything he could do for her.
It was in Piggly Wiggly where Will and Allison first had a heartfelt conversation when he was helping her find grocery items. That conversation sparked a wonderful relationship that led to their marriage in 2009. Their first child, Natalie, was born in 2011, followed by William, Gabriel and Peter. Will adored his wife Allison and their children, and his greatest joy was spending time with his family; especially taking them to RiverDogs games, going to the beach, watching Clemson football, and playing board games. Will was a devout Catholic all his life and lived his faith in everything he did. He faithfully passed on his love of our Lord to his children.
Will is survived by his wife Allison and their four children, Natalie, William, Gabriel and Peter, as well as his parents, William and Mary Durst, brothers Thomas Durst and Joseph Durst, and a large extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, 990 Etiwan Park Street, Daniel Island. Interment will be private.
