William P. Brockenfelt

William P. Brockenfelt, 94, of Charleston, SC passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 15, 2022. The family will receive friends between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM Saturday, March 19, 2022, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy, Charleston.

Brock was born October 16, 1927, in Kansas City, Kansas, the youngest of three sons born to Marcel and Florence McGhee Brockenfelt.

After graduating from St. Andrews Parish High School, Brock attended college in Kansas City before joing the US Air Force. After his service, Brock went to work at the Charleston Naval Shipyard, working in Selective Records until his retirement in 1988.

Brock's hobby was his children and grandchildren. Seldom did he ever miss a ballgame and he was a constant presence in the stands at the playground and high school.  In retirement, he took up watercolor painting, producing numerous works that hang in his children's homes. He also loved his college football on TV, spending all day watching the games, especially his Gamecocks.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Loretta Robinson Brockenfelt; his children, Gail Hallex, Jim Brockenfelt (Denise) and Mark Brockenfelt; two grandchildren, Hunter Hallex and Delaney Brockenfelt; a niece, Linda Lee and a nephew, Jerry Brockenfelt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Building Fund, 5 St. Teresa Dr, Charleston, SC 29407, or to Roper Hospice Cottage, 676 Wando Park Blvd, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464.
