Mr. Walter Metz Prause, Sr., 76, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Caroline Scarborough Prause, his sons, William Theodore "Teddy" Prause and his wife, Patricia, Walter M. Prause, Jr. and his wife, Laura and four grandsons, Bud, Jesse, Metz and Robert. A sister, Charlotte and a brother, Teddy, preceded him in death. The Prause family will receive visitors at the James McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, on Wednesday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on at 10:00 AM, Thursday, January 14, 2010, at Grace Episcopal Church, 98 Wentworth Street. Mr. Prause was born December 27, 1933, in Charleston, SC, a son of the late Carl W. and Maude M. Prause of Charleston. He attended Charleston High School and Clemson College as well as served in the Army Reserve. He managed the Hook, Line, and Sinker, was a partner in the Marine Supply Store, was the founder of Carolina Catering, and was a partner in A & P Catering. In addition to provisioning local Charlestonians with his culinary delights, he was a well known member of the Charleston sailing community.
