Vincenza Francese, 88, of Charleston retired general manager of Charleston Barber and Beauty Supply Co. died peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, June 13, 2012. She was born in Charleston on August 9, 1923, the daughter of Gaetano and Theresa DiYorio Francese and graduated from Bishop England High School. Vincenza was a devoted sister and Aunt to her family. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the Blessed Sacrament Women's Guild, the Bereavement Committee and one of the founding members of Perpetual Adoration at the church. She was also a member of SCCCW, a member and Past President of the Coastal Deanery, a Daughter of St. Theresa and the Sunshine Committee. She received a Papal Blessing from Pope John Paul II and was voted Catholic Woman of the Year. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Ansonboro. She retired from the Diocese of Charleston Youth Office.She founded the Koinoia young singles organization at Blessed Sacrament Church, was a Eucharistic minister and minister to the shut ins, Was a member of the Italian American, Sons of Italy organization and She was an Avon lady for 30 years. She is survived by her brother, Gaetano Francese of Dillon, her nieces, Theresa Fajardo (Bob) of Seneca, Maria Stephens (Tony) of Charleston. Patricia Meyer of Hollywood, Carolyn Lupo (Paul) of Dillon. Mary Theresa Buckner (Mark) of Stanardsville,VA. Martha Anne Tallon (Joe) of Summerville; her nephews, Steve Meyer (JoAnn) of Dorchester, John Francese (Linda) of Apex, NC , Thomas Faber (Linda) of Canton , GA several great nieces and nephews and 4 great great nephews, many cousins, Grand Nephews:Donald Stephens, Matthew Tallon, Joshua Tallon, Dave Faber, Mark Faber, Scott Faber, Jon Buckner, Tony Fajardo, Robert Fajardo and Grand Nieces:Jessica Stephens, Anne Fajardo She is also survived by brother- in- law Clarence Meyer (Raphaela) of Seneca and Special friend of the family well Karen Cummings. She was Predeceased by her parents; Gaetano and Theresa DiYorio Francese, sisters, Theresa Fracese Dodds, Raphaela Francese Meyer; brother, Joseph Francese A special thanks to all who made her life so special and to Hospice of Charleston. She will be missed dearly. Her mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 18, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon between 4:00 and 6:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. A Vigil Service will begin at 5:30 PM In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Dr. Charleston, SC 29407 for the perpetual adoration chapel restoration.
