Vernada Moore Webber, 95, passed away at Sandpiper Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant, SC., on November 18, 2011. Mrs. Webber was born on May 22, 1916 in Clarkton, MO to the late William Bertram and Opal New Moore. Vernada was an LPN with the Oakland County Hospital in Pontiac, MI until retiring to Ft. Walton Beach, FL. As a widow, she moved to Charleston to live with her daughter and son in law in 1996. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Charleston and the Nonie Wilson Sunday School class. She has resided for the last seven years in The Palms of Mt. Pleasant, Sandpiper Courtyard and lastly in Sandpiper Nursing. The family wishes to thank Sandpiper Nursing staff for their wonderful care these last few months. Vernada is survived by four children, Jack H. King of Branson, MO, Charline King Stricklin (Cecil) of Charleston, SC, Judith King Dupke (Edward) of Phoenix, AZ and Darla King Jones (Roy) of Columbia, SC. She was a devoted grandmother to ten and great grandmother to seven. Also surviving are her sister, Martha Joseph and her brothers, George Moore (Joan), Charles Moore (Lila), James Moore (Ernestine) and Wallace Moore (LeAnn). She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lester Webber, Samuel Treece and Milton King. The relatives and friends of Mrs. Vernada M. Webber are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 21, 2011, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy. Burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery.
