Tommy Lewis Ward, Sr., died in his home January 7, 2018, with family at his side. The family will receive friends to celebrate his life between 2:00 and 5:00 PM, Saturday, January 12, 2019, at his Meggett home, 4762 Parishville Road.
Tommy was born August 8, 1943, in Miami, Florida to Thomas and Florita (Webster) Ward. Growing up, his family moved across the country living in Virginia, Utah, Delaware, and North Carolina. Tommy graduated from High School in 1963 before marrying his wife Sandra Horne and joining the Army. He served 4 years in the United States Army Security Agency. After his military service, Tommy became a skilled cabinet maker and built his family’s beautiful home in Meggett, SC.
During his life he enjoyed basketball, roller skating, home improvement projects, riding motorcycles and he was an amazing dancer. His love of traveling led to him accepting a job at a construction company contracted to repair and maintain American Embassies around the world in places such as Brazil, Russia, Sweden, and Germany.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sandra J. Ward; one son, Tommy L. Ward, Jr. (Sandra S. Ward); two daughters, Tina L. Roberts, (David P. Roberts), and Jennifer A. Middleton (Benjamin R. Middleton); four grandchildren, Allison L. Rule (Robert S. Rule), Kristen L. W. Cook, Benjamin R. Middleton Jr, and Joshua M. Middleton; a brother, Glenn A. Ward (Johnnye D. Ward); and a sister, Lisa F. Medders (James R. Medders).
He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth M. Ward.
All who knew Tommy, knew him for his kind, giving heart and loving sense of humor.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hallie Hill Animal Sanctuary.
