Thomas J. McLoughlin, 86, of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest on Saturday July 16, 2016 at Hospice of Charleston. The relatives and friends of Thomas J. McLoughlin are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Stella Maris Catholic Church, 1204 Middle St., Sullivan's Island, SC. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 60 Huguenin Ave., Charleston. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 PM Monday, July 18, 2016, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy., Charleston. The Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:45 PM. Tom was born in Bronxville, NY to Aloysius Vincent and Lucy (Grogan) McLoughlin. He grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Fordham University. He joined the Army and was stationed in Charleston, SC. Upon his discharge, he knew that Charleston had become his home and through his many friends he met his wife Agnes. He retired from General Electric Co. in Ladson, SC as a purchasing agent. Tom was an honorary life member Knights of Columbus, 4th degree; a charter member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a past state director; a charter member of the Irish-American Unity Conference and past state director; a charter member of the Irish National Caucus, Inc., Charleston Chapter; a past member of the American-Ireland Educational Foundation; and past member of SC Irish Historical Society. Tom was an active member of Stella Maris Catholic Church on Sullivans Island, and was very proud of his Irish heritage. Survivors include his daughters: Brenda M. Guilherme (Robert) of Summerville, SC, Maureen M. Taylor (Paul) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Kathleen M. Kuhn (James) of Summerville, SC; and grandchildren: John Taylor, Erin Taylor, Justin Taylor, Daniel Morgan and Julia Kuhn; his sister, Eileen M. Stiles, Topsham, ME. He was preceded in death by his wife Agnes Comar McLoughlin.
