Ted Yeager

October 9, 1928 — July 28, 2021

Harry William (Ted) Yeager, 92, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 9, 1928, in Charleston, he was a son of Harry William and Ruth Butt Yeager. He served honorably in the United States Navy and upon discharge entered the Citadel as a veteran student, where he received a degree in Civil Engineering in 1952. Upon graduation he relocated to Pennsylvania and participated in the design and construction of the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He later returned home to his beloved Charleston and worked with the West Virginia Pulp and Paper Company. He then spent the majority of his career with the Naval Facilities Engineering Command. After his retirement he relished time with his family and friends and of course his golf game.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Yeager Zundell (Larry), Helen Yeager Osborne (Ozzie), Warren Hamilton Yeager and Stanley Earl Yeager (Dot). He will be sorely missed by his wife of 42 years, Paula K. Yeager. He is also survived by his daughters, Karen Y. DaCosta (John Brenner), Christine Y. Duc (Bud), Lee Y. Morelli (Gary), and Teri Y. Voltz (Jeff). In addition he leaves behind his grandchildren, Sarah Duc Linker (Wes), Drew DaCosta, Stuart Miller (Krystal), Laura Duc Russell, Elliot Miller, Katie DaCosta, Whitney Parkinson (Carter), Hunter Voltz, Elsie Voltz and his great-grandchildren, Ruth, Kelsey, Thomas, Easton, Helen, Jackson, Madelyn, Duc, Aiden and Reid.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Gloria D. Yeager and brothers-in-law, Wilmont Williams and William Detyens as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In consideration of all the golfers out there, Ted requested that a service be held in the late afternoon so it would not interfere with those early morning tee times. With that being said, a Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 PM Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5 St. Teresa Drive, Charleston. Burial will be private.

In honor of the time he spent in the Charleston Orphan House, we ask that memorials be sent to Carolina Youth Development Center, 5055 Lakawana Blvd. North Charleston, SC 29405.

Arrangements by James A. McAlister, Inc. (843) 766-1365.
