Susan Eden Berlinghieri

March 22, 1944 — April 25, 2018

Mrs. Susan E. Berlinghieri, wife of 47 years to Dr. Joel C. Berlinghieri of the Physics Department at The Citadel, died on April 25th, 2018 from medical complications. The relatives and friends of Dr. and Mrs. Joel Berlinghieri are invited to attend her Funeral Service 10:00 AM Monday, April 30, 2018, from the Graveside at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, James Island. The family will receive friends between 4:00 and 6:00 PM Sunday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston.

Along with her husband, she is survived by her son Joel Carl II, and her sister Carolyn Richbart. Susan, born on March 22, 1944 in Catskill NY, earned her Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and Master’s degree in computer science from San Jose State University. A resident of Charleston, SC since 1971, she taught first at Hanahan Middle School and later mathematics and computer science at Bishop England High School and Wando High School. She also served as an adjunct teaching computer science courses at The Citadel and The College of Charleston. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
