Steven Lee Beery, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in Charleston, SC on August 13, 2026, at the age of 84.

Steve was born in Freer, Texas, to Roy F. Beery Sr. and Marjorie Ligon Beery. He grew up in Houston and attended Lamar High School, and was a standout running back on the football team. He attended The University of Texas, and was a proud member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity where he created lifelong friendships.

After college, Steve spent time in the U.S. Army Reserves, married Patricia Simmons (Ft. Worth), and began a career in the rubber industry that would take him across the country and around the world. After brief stays in Arcadia, California, and Barrington, Rhode Island, his work brought him to Hudson, Ohio, where he lived from 1975 until 2008. He later made his home on Kiawah Island, South Carolina, where he spent countless hours enjoying one of his great passions: golf. He never played a round without a $5 Nassau on the line, and more often than not, he delighted in collecting his winnings over a cold beer

Steve spent more than three decades with The Sid Richardson Carbon Company, For him. business was never simply business. The people he met along the way often became lifelong friends, a reflection of his natural warmth, genuine interest in others, and ability to make people feel welcome wherever he went. Whenever he traveled and wherever he lived, he made sure to remind everybody that he was from Texas.

Above all, Steve cherished his family. He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Vance (Jim) of University Heights, OH; his son, Christopher Beery (Jaime Carr) of Kremmling, CO; his brother, Roy F. Beery III (Ruth); and his sister, Jennifer Brock. He also leaves behind his two beloved grandsons, Beau Beery and Blake Beery, who were the light of his life.

Steve's generosity, deep faith, and dry humor will be deeply missed. Whether playing golf or tennis, hunting, fishing, gathering with friends over a good meal, or simply enjoying conversation, Steve never missed an opportunity to have fun and share it with the people around him. Hook 'Em!
