Entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 Stephen Calhoun Hewitt, husband of Elizabeth McLaughlin Hewitt. Stephen was born Friday, February 29, 1952 a son of Morgan Edwin Hewitt and Ann Shaw Hewitt. He attended Cathedral School, Charleston High, and Trident Technical College. He married Elizabeth McLaughlin Hewitt on August 28, 1982. Stephen Calhoun Hewitt was a loving Husband and best friend to his wife, amazing Father to his two daughters, caring Brother, and great Friend to very many people. He had a very big heart for his four legged friend and companion, Cooper. He was a very compassionate and hard worker. He was employed by RF Cole for 28 years as Senior Superintendent. He also served many hours as a volunteer at Charleston Catholic School. He also served as an Usher at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist for many years. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth M. Hewitt, two daughters: A. Ashley Hewitt and Jordan H. Payne, two brothers: Morgan E. Hewitt, Jr. (Skipper) and Willard S. Hewitt, a sister: Nancy S. Hewitt, a nephew: Morgan E. Hewitt III, great -nephew: Andrew M. Hewitt The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen C. Hewitt are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burials at 10:00 AM Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The Rite of Committal will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited this Thursday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy at 6:00 PM, the family will receive friends until 8:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad St. Charleston, SC 29401 or Hospice of Charleston Foundation 676 Wando Park Blvd. Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
