Stacy Lloyd Hull of Charleston, SC went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 3, 2011. Mr. Hull was 97 years old and the devoted husband of Phyllis Lowell Hull for 68 years. Surviving in addition to his wife are four children and their spouses: Stacy Lowell Hull (Nan), Charles A. Hull (Sanae), Martha H. White (Dennis), Peter R. Hull (Linda), 8 grandchildren: Lowell Hull, Allison Nulph, Alisa Miksa, Albert Hull, Martin White, Keri Callocchia, Brian Hull, Michael Hull and 6 great-grandchildren, and by his brother Charles T. Hull of Madison, Mississippi. Mr. Hull was born on May 22, 1913 in Winona, MS, the fourth of seven children. He grew up working on the family farm in rural Mississippi. He proudly served in The United States Marine Corp from 1934 to 1938 during most of which time he was stationed in Shanghai, China. When he returned, he earned his BS and MS in Mathematics from the University of Iowa. Mr. Hull was employed during WWII at Culver Aircraft Co. as an aeronautical engineer. After the war, he taught math for four years at the University of Arkansas. He then worked as a mathematician at Oak Ridge National Laboratories on atomic research. In 1952, he became a math professor at The Citadel where he taught math until his retirement in 1978. For 30 years he enjoyed teaching and helping students learn math. He was a very active member of Ashley River Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and as a Sunday School teacher. He was a member and Past Master of Pythagorean Lodge No. 21 A.F.M. The relatives and friends of Stacy L. Hull are invited to attend his Funeral Service at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with the entombment following at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the time of service. Memorials may be sent to Ashley River Baptist Church, 1101 Savannah Highway, Charleston, SC 29407.
