Shirley S. Botzis

Shirley S. Botzis, 82, widow of Peter Petro Botzis of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest Thursday, January 6, 2022. The relatives and friends of  Shirley Botzis are invited to attend her Visitation between 5:00 and 8:00 PM Friday, January 14, 2022 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private.

Mrs. Botzis was born in Winnsboro, SC on April 24, 1939, a daughter of the late Daisy Hester Smith and Durham Fredrick Smith. A graduate of Whitmire High School Class of 1957, she received her Nursing Degree from the Columbia School of Nursing, Class of 1960. After serving six years in nursing, Shirley changed her lifelong career to Travel Agent. This allowed her to meet countless people planning memorable vacations and travel, a passion she shared until just recently. Shirley was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity. She loved her family and enjoyed family vacations, travel, cruises, Gamecocks sports, and Folly Beach. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Shirley is survived by her 2 sons: David Botzis and wife Angie, and Michael Botzis and wife Marisa; 4 Grandchildren: Elliott Botzis (Emily), Tori Botzis, Kristal Pitts (Robby), Danielle Craven (Randy); 5 Great-grandchildren; her sister, Virigina S. McCaskill; her sister-in-law Ruth S. Smith, and a host of extended family and friends, including the Middleton Razorback 'Rowdy Parents'. She is also survived by special friends Ken Metts, Sally Hendricks, and the Davis Family. Shirley was preceded in death by her brother, Rudy E. Smith.
