Sharon O'Brien Doniphan, 66, wife of Francis Rhett Doniphan of Johns Island, SC, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 AM Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road, James Island. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. As per COVID-19 protocols, all guests will kindly wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Sharon was born October 23, 1954 in Charleston, SC, daughter of Edna Mitchum O'Brien and the late Francis X. 'Frank' O'Brien. A graduate of Fort Johnson High School, she retired in January, 2020 having served over 40 years working first for the Charleston Naval Shipyard, and later the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A devoted member of Nativity Catholic Church, she was a loving wife and the best mother any child could have.
Sharon is survived by her husband, her mother, daughters Kimberly Colson Milligan and Olivia Rhett Doniphan of Johns Island, SC; her granddaughter Mayson Milligan of Johns Island, SC; her sister Patti O'Brien of Abbeville, SC; brothers Timothy O'Brien (Linda) of Moncks Corner, SC and John O'Brien (Cathy) of Oklahoma City, OK; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nativity Catholic Church Building Fund, or to Roper Hospice ( www.rsfhfoundation.org ).
