Sarah Jane Parker

Sarah Jane Parker, 77, a retired LPN and wife of Paul W. Parker, Sr., entered into eternal rest Friday, December 18, 2015, at her residence. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Parker, Sr. are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at James Island Baptist Church, 2023 Wappoo Drive, James Island. Burial will take place at the Stafford Baptist Church Cemetery in Furman, SC. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Online condolences may be offered at www.CharlestonFunerals.com. Sarah was born very premature on February 20, 1938, a daughter of the late Ruth Jones and Jacob Sidney Goethe. She grew up on James Island and lived most of her life on Woodland Shores Road. Sarah was a child of God and a charter member of James Island Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery for over 40 years. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Roper Hospital downtown for 27 years and also a member of the Kings Daughters. A devoted wife, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, niece, cousin and friend, she touched the lives of all those she met. Being a caregiver was everything to her. Sarah devoted her life to the service of others and did so selflessly. She loved her family with all her heart. Sarah enjoyed working in her yard, sewing, painting, and (most people don't know) she loved doing carpentry work. In addition to her husband, Sarah is survived by 3 children: Paul Wesley 'Wes' Parker Jr., Sidney Leroy 'Lee' Parker and his wife, Lesa and Sarah Jane Parker Flowers and her husband, Carl; 4 Grandchildren: Virginia Parker Owen and her husband, Matthew, Zachary J. Parker and his wife, Heidi, Christopher A. Parker and Carmen E. Parker; 2 Great-grandchildren: Asher D. Parker and Tad P. Owen; her Aunt, Sarah Jones Beard Blackman and husband, Sonny; 1 Sister, Mary Ella Goethe 'Meg' Norris and husband, James as well as a nephew, Jamie Norris.
