Sam Elias Latto

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sam Elias Latto, who left this world surrounded by his family on August 8, 2026 at the age of 69. He was born on February 19, 1957 in Charleston SC, son of the late Elias S. Latto (Louie) and the late Barbara Gigis Latto.

Sam is survived by his loving son, Elias Avery Latto of Spartanburg, SC. He will also be dearly missed by his sisters Effie L. Meletis (Tom) and Elizabeth L. Wade (Mike) as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Sam.

Sam graduated from James Island High School in 1975, where he was a proud member of the Mighty Rams 1974 state football championship team. He then went on to graduate from Clemson University.

The family will receive friends at 12:00 PM, Friday August 14, 2026, at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, followed by a Trisagion service at 12:30 PM and the funeral service at 1:00 PM. The interment will take place at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity building fund on 30 Race Street, Charleston.
