Sally Klump Ward

Sally Klump Ward, beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, died peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021, at her home in Mount Pleasant, SC. Sally Alison Klump was born July 19, 1958, in Gulfport, MS, to George Karl and Sue Pepper Klump. Typical of military life, Sally’s family moved around the country. She looked forward to the annual summer vacations with her grandparents on the Isle of Palms. Eventually, her father returned his family to his native roots in Charleston where they established their home. Sally attended College Preparatory School and was president of her graduating class of 1976. She continued her education at the College of Charleston where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. In 1982, she married Norris Andrew Ward of Sullivan’s Island. Sally was a regional sales marketing manager at Maersk Line where she was known for her hard work and dedication as an executive, specializing in sales reporting. She was an innovative and fundamental asset to Maersk Line for over 30 years.

Sally enjoyed time with her family above all else. She often traveled to shop and enjoyed the company of family and friends on her excursions. Sally’s loss is immeasurable, but so is the love we all cherish. Her life is a beautiful memory and a continued source of inspiration. Sally was strong, nurturing, kind and full of grace, and exquisitely beautiful both inside and out. Her intelligence and insight made her quick to notice the irony of all around her. She had a keen intellect with an all-encompassing sense of humor. Her grandmother, Ruth Hill Klump, often said, “Sally is full of joy.”

Sally was predeceased by her parents and is survived by her children, Ruth Alison Ward, Andrew Jennings Ward and Theodore Arthur Ward (Roselynn); grandchildren, Caison Kyle Ward, Alexander Romelle Ward and Cassandra Mayumi Ward; and sister, Sue Klump Mevers (William).

The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy, Charleston. Please join us for a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 20, 2021, in the chapel at Seacoast Church, 750 Long Point Rd, Mount Pleasant. Dr. Adam Martin will officiate. Sally will be laid to rest privately at Magnolia Cemetery.
