Sally Graham Pittman, 67, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018, after suffering complications from a recent illness. The relatives and friends of Sally G. Pittman are invited to attend her Memorial Service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 18, 2018, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
Sally was born on September 20, 1950, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to parents Barbara and Robert Graham. She leaves behind her adoring family, husband George Bennett “Ben” Pittman, daughter Sarah Pittman Allred, son Ross Bennett Pittman, grand-daughter, Millie Montgomery Allred; her rescue Boykin Spaniel, Susie; sister, Susan King of Texas and her step-mother, Nancy Graham of Charleston. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Sally loved life and living every day to the fullest even after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease more than fifteen years ago. She was one of the first Parkinson’s patients in Charleston to undergo Deep Brain Stimulation Surgery. Growing up in a military family, Sally had the good fortune to travel the world graduating from high school, third in her class, in Seville, Spain. She moved to Charleston, South Carolina in 1969. Sally graduated from the College of Charleston, second in her class, in 1987 while pregnant with her son Ross. Sally worked as an accountant.
Sally’s dedication to her family will forever leave an indelible imprint. She was passionate and positive. She was a tireless volunteer and advocate. She enjoyed yoga, pilates and, yes, the Rock Steady Boxing program at GRIT BOX Fitness in West Ashley. An enthusiastic Carolina Gamecocks fan she and Benny recently travelled to Tampa for the Outback Bowl to watch the Gamecocks defeat the University of Michigan 26-19 on New Year’s Day. Sally and Benny enjoyed seeking out new places most recently travelling to Ireland and Scotland. Sally participated in several yoga retreats to Bali with her son, with her daughter and also with her yoga enthusiast friends. She was active in Al-Anon.
