Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 7, 2013, Ruth Maree Reeves Clark, wife of Ray Chappell Clark. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ray C. Clark are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at Sullivan's Island Baptist Church. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends this Tuesday evening between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy. Ruth was born in Charleston on June 2, 1929, a daughter of Hope Chastine and Marie Alice Saulsbery Reeves. She graduated from Memminger High School in 1946 and attended the College of Charleston. Ruth was employed by Atlantic Coast Life Insurance Co., the Charleston Naval Shipyard and the First Baptist Church School where she taught from 1972 to 1982 and as Principal from 1982 to 1983. She was a member of Sullivan's Island Baptist Church and a President and Associate Teacher of Scripture Gleaner's Sunday School Class. "She was outgoing with a great sense of humor and always ready to make others laugh. She enjoyed all kinds of dancing, from the Folly Beach Pier in the 1940s and '50s to "doin' the Charleston" in a variety show in Saudi Arabia in the 1980s and all points in between. Ruth was a loyal military wife and managed 22 family moves during 20 years of her husband Ray's Naval career. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother to her 3 children and 3 grands. Those who knew her marveled at her strong Christian faith and the example she was to others. To know her was to love her." Ruth is survived by her husband: Ray C. Clark; her children: B. Christine Clark, John C. Clark and Michal C. Miller (David); her grandchildren: Elyse C. Clark, Logan B. Miller and Carson R. Miller as well as a sister, Louise R. McMillan. Memorial contributions may be made to either Sullivan's Island Baptist Church, 1753 Central Ave. Sullivan's Island, SC 29482 or to Zola Levitt Ministries, P.O. Box 12268, Dallas, TX 75225.
