Roy G. Perry entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2017. The relatives and friends of Roy G. Perry are invited to attend his Funeral Service 2:00 PM Friday, June 9, 2017, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The family will receive friends between 6:00 and 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Roy was born in Pritchard, West Virginia on April 3, 1939. Roy was the son of the late Ray Perry and Bertha Belcher Perry. He served his country in the United States Navy and was assigned to the USS Howard W. Gilmore, in Charleston, South Carolina, where he met the love of his life, Helen “Betty” MacGilvray Perry. Roy served as a member of the City of Charleston Police Department, but ultimately retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard where he worked as a master boilermaker. He was a 32nd Degree Master Mason and member of the Dorchester Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of Scottish Rite Temple in Charleston and a member of the Shrine Temple in Mt. Pleasant.Roy loved the mountains of West Virginia, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Survivors include his children: Ronald Gregory Perry (Julie) and April P. Warford-Carter (Michael); one sister, Dorothy Perry Nichols; one brother, Joe Perry; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ansley Warford; and two grandsons, Trevor Cole Perry and Benjamin Perry Warford. Other survivors include the love of his life, Helen “Betty” MacGilvray Perry and several nieces and nephews. He will be truly missed by all!
