Rose Ann Thomas Boxx, 73, of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM, Friday, May 6, 2022, at Nativity Catholic Church, 1061 Folly Road, James Island. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Thursday at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
Rose Ann was born on April 21, 1949, in Florence, Alabama, the daughter of Raymond and Rosa Mabel Epping Thomas.
Rose Ann attended Chicora High School, Conede Business College, Trident Technical College and The School of Banking and Finance at the University of South Carolina
Rose Ann worked at First Citizens Bank as the Assistant Vice President until her retirement in 1992. She worked for John McAlister Funeral Home for several years before taking a job with the State. In 2014, Rose Ann retired from the South Carolina State Government, having worked at the South Carolina Budget and Control Board, the Department of Natural Resources, and the College of Charleston. She was an active member of the Palmetto Porsche Club as a previous Palmetto Region club secretary, co-founder of the Palmetto Region Ladies’ Luncheons (PLUFF) as well as being active in many other club activities and loved taking road trips with her husband, Richard and other club members.
Rose Ann’s 73 years of life was spent with unwavering support and love for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, going on vacations and excursions with her husband, and enjoying the Charleston food scene with her longtime friends. Rose Ann really shined in the outdoors whether it was tending her garden or enjoying the beautiful Charleston weather with loved ones. She loved to travel, from Alaska to the Caribbean, although her favorite place to visit was Disney World, especially with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Richard Boxx III; her children, Jonathan Paul Boxx (wife Melissa) of James Island; and her daughter, Jennifer Elizabeth Boxx Lutz (husband Chad) of Johns Island; her grandchildren Shannon Rose Boxx Lutz, Jonathan Paul Boxx Jr., Alexandra Marie Boxx Lutz, Mac Robert Boxx, and Madeline Catherine Boxx Lutz; and her brother Raymond A. Thomas of Virginia Beach, VA. She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Rosa Thomas and her brother, Robert Thomas.
