February 7, 1949 — October 14, 2016

Ronald Harry Gaskins, 67, of Hollywood, husband of Martha R. Gaskins, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald H. Gaskins are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 20, 2016, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be private at a later date. Ronald was born in Charleston, South Carolina on February 7, 1949, a son of the late Lois and Viola Gaskins. He grew up in Awendaw and graduated from McClellanville High School. Ronald went on to own and operate James Island Drywall and Installation as well as a trucking company. He loved taking rides in the country, raccoon hunting, he loved seafood and Michelob Light and was an avid, die hard Carolina Gamecock fan, but his true love in life was his family, in which his entire world revolved around and he protected fiercely. His grandchildren were his heart and soul. He is survived by his wife, Martha; his son, William C. Butler and his wife, Michele Ghastin, his daughter, Elizabeth B. Kelly and her husband, Billy; his grandchildren, Samantha, Bailey and Billy; brothers, Russell A. Gaskins, Charles E. Gaskins and his wife, Karen, his sisters, Emma J. Williams, Julia E. Cooper and Carolyn L. Heath, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ronald was predeceased by his brothers, Earl, Joe, Harold and Vester Gaskins, as well as an infant son. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hollings Cancer Center, C/O MUSC Foundation, 18 Bee Street, MSC 450, Charleston, SC 29425.
