Ronald P. Brown, 79, widower of Janice Owen Brown, passed away Friday morning, November 22, 2013 at his home on Johns Island, SC. The relatives and friends of Mr. Ronald P. Brown are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 3:30 PM, Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Bethany United Methodist Church, Maybank Highway. Burial will be in College Park, Georgia. Ron was born on September 23, 1934, in College Park, Georgia, a son of Cecil and Frances Brown. He was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, MS and a current member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Charleston. Ron was a lifelong Boy Scout and started Troop 304 at CUMC. He was also heavily involved in the amateur radio community and volunteered a lot of his time to emergency communications and preparedness plans. Ron and his wife, Jan, founded and operated a pest control company in Jackson for 30 years. After Jans death in 2010, he moved to Charleston, SC, to be near his son Matt and daughter-in-law Cindy. In Charleston he was active in the Lowcountry Senior Center and his church. He is survived by his son, Matthew, daughter-in-law, Cindy, and his twin brother, Donald.
