Roland L. Hicks, Jr. December 19, 1950-April 1, 2014 SURFSIDE BEACH Predeceased by his parents Roland L. Hicks, Sr. and Helen L. Force. Survived by his brother, Byron L. Hicks, of Rock Hill, SC. Leaving behind his wife of 17 years, Elizabeth Noaeill-Hicks, daughter, Ivy "Jackie" Gladden-Hicks, and son, Parker K. Hicks of Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Roland was very loving and caring man with a good heart or everyone around him. He loved nature and just being outdoors. He graduated from Socastee High School in 1968, further receiving a Bachelors degree in Science at the University of South Carolina. He worked as an Independent Carrier for the Sun News for 21 years. Roland also was substitute teacher for Horry County Schools for over five years. There will not be a funeral. Roland's wishes were to be cremated and to have a memorial celebration of his life. There is a memorial being planned for Sunday, June 22, 2014. The time and place is not yet set, but will be announced at a later date, for friends and family to join us in the celebration.
