Robert Walton Pearce

Robert Walton Pearce, 89, of Charleston, husband of Kathryn Blake Pearce, passed away on Monday, July 2, 2018. A visitation will be held Tuesday, July 3 at 587 East Hobcaw Drive in Mt. Pleasant, from 5-7 pm, and his funeral will be held Thursday, July 5 at 2 pm at St. Philips Church followed by a visitation with family in the Parish Hall. Burial in Magnolia Cemetery will be private.

Bob was born September 2, 1928, in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of the late Dixon F. Pearce and Isbell Beacham Pearce. He was a graduate of Greenville High, Sewanee Military Academy and the University of South Carolina where he was a member of the SAE fraternity.

He spent over 50 years as an investment advisor following his service as an officer in the United States Navy. Bob was a former member and leader of several organizations including the Palmetto Touchdown Club, the Kiwanis Club of Charleston and the Red Carpet Club. He was a member of the South Carolina Society, the Hibernian Society, the Carolina Yacht Club and St. Philips Church. He had been an avid sailor, tennis player and golfer who loved nothing more than traveling with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife Kitty, children Robert Walton (Bobby) Pearce, Jr. (Pam), Julius Blake Pearce (Aimee), Kathryn Pearce Phillips (Al), and Dixon Franklin Pearce II (Susan), and grandchildren Robert Walton Pearce III (Emily), Richard Blake Pearce (Maggie), Kathryn Pearce Menzies (Harry), Julius Blake Pearce, Jr, Ellison Joseph Pearce, Kathryn LaVonne Perez-Phillips (Rubén), Alton Clarence Phillips, Jr, Ted Ashton Phillips, III, William Blake Phillips, Anne Darby Pearce Johnson (Rob), Dixon Franklin Pearce, III, and Susan Augustus Pearce. He was predeceased by his brothers, Dixon Franklin Pearce, Jr. and William Beacham Pearce.
