Robert Russell Mckenna

Robert Russell McKenna, Sr., 81 entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 19, 2012. He served his country in the United States Army for ten years, enlisted during the Korean War (2 years active duty and 8 years in the reserves). He was an executive for the Chevrolet Division of General Motors for 37 years, making a home for his family starting in New Jersey then transferred to other states including New York, Ohio, Michigan, Massachusetts,Texas, and finally retiring in Charleston, South Carolina. He traveled around the world, learned to pilot a plane, could build or fix anything, sailed, golfed, loved the outdoors and had a green thumb. We rejoice in the knowledge that death ushered him into the presence of God forever releasing him from the prison of Alzheimer's Disease. Mr. McKenna was born January 28, 1931 in East Orange, New Jersey. Beloved husband of Gail E.McKenna: father of Robert R. McKenna, Jr., Karen E. McKenna, Steven J. McKenna(Gina)of Denton Texas, Susan E.Caulder(Ray); brother of William McKenna(Lydia) of Princeton, New Jersey; Grandfather of F. Raymond Caulder III, Elisabeth L. Caulder, Matthew R.Caulder and triplets Ian, Gia and Ali McKenna; Uncle to Eva Tramontana(Matt) and children Mason and Madeline Tramontana. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM, January 5, 2013, at St. Mark United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to St. Mark United Methodist Church, 413 Geddes Avenue, Charleston , SC 29407 or to the Veteran's Victory House 2461 Sidneys Road, Walterboro, SC 29488.
