Robert H. Latimer, Jr.

Latimer, Jr, Robert H. “Bob” passed away on May 10, 2022 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina from several health issues.

Bob was born on March 15, 1944 in South Carolina, and had a lifelong love of boating, golfing, trips to the ocean, and eating raw oysters. He was a born salesman, and got great pleasure in searching for the next real estate adventure. Bob’s specialty was college housing - apartment conversions and new student condominium developments. He brought the student condominium concept to UT Knoxville in the early 1980s, and together with friend and partner Raja Jubran, has been responsible for much of the development since then. He founded University Real Estate and Property Management and through the office handled initial condo sales, leasing and management for owners, and captured many resales of units. Bob had an incredible work ethic, and was a very hands on company owner. He developed friendships with many condo owners, and handled student infractions with a firm but fair hand. He always had a twinkle in his eyes and mischief up his sleeve - always the jokester and prankster.

Bob is survived by his wife of over 32 years, Katherine Rogers Latimer, son Rob Latimer - grandson Harold, daughter Rebecca Juarez - husband Carlos and granddaughters Eliana and Ximena, sisters Carol Clemenz and Beverly Wood, brother David - wife Kate, Sisters-in-law Beverly Rogers McMahan - husband Rusty, Gail Rogers Huey - husband Marty, and many much-loved nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by our faithful and loving office staff, special Goddaughter Savanah, and many friends in South Carolina and Knoxville, TN.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert Latimer, Sr (“Hack”) and Rebecca Hendrix Latimer, son Taylor, brothers-in-law Dr. Fred Clemenz and Ken Wood and by parents-in-law Tom and Lucille Rogers.

There will be a gathering in Knoxville at a later date to celebrate Bob.
