Robert Arthur Jenkins, Sr.

Robert Arthur Jenkins, Sr (Bobby), 73 of Charleston, retired Vice President of Micah Jenkins Nursery, and husband of Sarah Moody Jenkins died December 31, 2010 at Roper Hospital. Mr. Jenkins was born in Charleston, SC, the son of E. Micah Jenkins and Eloise Rosback Jenkins. He was a member of the St. Cecelia Society, Agricultural Society of SC and the Preservation Society of Charleston. He was a former member of the Carolina Yacht Club, St. Andrews Society and Society of Colonial Wars. Mr. Jenkins was past president of both the Southern Nurserymen's Association and S.C. Nurserymen Association. He was voted SC Nurseryman of the Year in 1989. Mr. Jenkins attended Georgia Institute of Technology and the College of Charleston before returning to the family business. He was a member of Old St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Surviving are his wife, Sarah Moody Jenkins; four children, Robert Arthur Jenkins, Jr and Sarah Jeannean Jenkins both of Edisto Island, Walter William Jenkins and Joseph Micah Jenkins of Charleston; a brother, William J. Jenkins and four grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Jenkins, Sr. are invited to attend his funeral service at the Graveside, Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Churchyard, 3:00 PM, Monday, January 3, 2011. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home 1620 Savannah Hwy. Sunday afternoon between 4:00 and 6:00 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the MUSC Children's Hospital, P.O.
