Robert Alexander Boinest

Robert Alexander "Alex" Boinest, 62, of Charleston, SC, husband of Lucia Smoak Boinest, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. He was born on June 13, 1963 in Charleston, SC to Edward "Ted" Boinest and Chesta (Boinest) Tiedemann.

His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Old St. Andrew's Parish Church, 2604 Ashley River Road, Charleston. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM, Friday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway.

Alex was a graduate of the College of Charleston and the Citadel's MBA program. Over the years he worked in business management, sales, and hospitality. His life was defined by hard work and a strong commitment to his family. Alex's days were punctuated with animated dinner table conversations with his children, being the calm in the crazy menagerie of his beloved pets, and his love of Carolina football.

Alex is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Lucia Boinest; his daughters Caroline and Lucy Boinest; son Ladson Boinest; brothers Edward (Michelle), Scott (Karen), and Richard Boinest; sister-in-law Caroline Keller (Michael Klein); and nephews Chip, Miles, and Jimi Boinest; Ben Klein; and niece Haley Hughett (Joseph). He was predeceased by his parents, sister-in-law, Claire Boinest, niece Sarah Klein, and faithful dog Winston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Charleston Animal Society, 2455 Remount Rd., N. Charleston, SC 29406.
