Robert Edward Anderson, Sr.

Robert Edward Anderson, Sr., 90, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on August 9, 2026.

Robert was born on February 23, 1936, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Edward and Ernestine B. Anderson. He was a graduate of Cristobal High School located in Panama. Robert, lovingly known as Bob or Andy to his family and friends, lived a life defined by hard work, faithfulness and deep love for his family.

In September 1954, Robert proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, beginning a 20-year career of dedicated service before retiring in May 1974. Following his military service, he continued his career in maintenance with JC Penney and later Darby Development, where he was respected for his dedication, reliability and commitment to those around him. Robert was a devoted Christian who lived his life guided by faith, love and trust in God. His faith was a source of strength throughout his life and shaped the way he loved and cared for his family and those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Sara Keith Anderson. He leaves behind two sons, Robert Anderson, Jr. (John) and Christopher Anderson (Ginger); four grandchildren, Hayley Jacobs (Tripp), Kylie Anderson, Cody Anderson and Lana Bagley (Chad); three great-grandchildren, Cade, Braxton and Cash Jacobs. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Baker, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Roberts's greatest legacy is the love he shared with his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey. Being known as "Papa" brought him the most joy and pride. His kindness, warmth and sense of humor will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Anderson, Sr., are invited to attend his Graveside Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2026, at James Island Presbyterian Churchyard, 1632 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the James Island Presbyterian Church. All are welcome to attend, pay their respects and celebrate Robert's life.

In this time of grief, we remember Robert not only for his accomplishments but also for the love and kindness he shared with everyone he encountered. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Robert was preceded in death not only by his parents but his sister, Betty Jean West and two brothers-in-law, Jerry West and Fred Baker, Sr.
