Rita S. Heidtman CHARLESTON, SC - Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 20, 2010, Rita Catherine Skinner Heidtman, wife of William Danner Heidtman, Jr. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Heidtman, Jr. are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM November 24, 2010, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Tuesday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Rosary will be recited at a time to be announced. Rita was born in Charleston on February 15, 1942, a daughter of Hugh Bradley and Ruth Veronica Hendricks Skinner. She graduated from Bishop England High School in 1960 and earned an Associate Degree from Trident Technical College. Rita retired from the Medical University of South Carolina after twenty-eight years of faithful service. She was secretary to the Dean of Student and Academic Affairs at the College of Dentistry. Rita was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and their Ladies Guild. She enjoyed camping and was affectionately called "MA-MA" by her grandchildren and everyone she lovingly cared and cooked for. Her family came first. Rita is survived by her Husband of fifty years: William Danner Heidtman, Jr.; her children: William D. Heidtman III and his wife, Christine, Michael A. Heidtman and Laura L. Heidtman; her grandchildren: Christopher M. Heidtman, Tyler A. Heidtman and Matthew A. Heidtman; a sister: Betty S. Laurie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
