Richard L. Jones - Charleston Entered into eternal rest on November 30, 2011, Mr. Richard Lynnwood Jones, husband of Joan Daggett Jones, of Charleston, SC. Jonsey was born on January 3, 1930 in Lancaster, PA, a son of Charles E. and Miriam Klouse Jones and attended NC State University. Jonsey retired from the United States Navy in 1967 after twenty years as a Chief Boatswain Mate. He was hired by AVCO Lycoming of Charleston to run and oversee their recreational programs. During this time, he served as Chairman of the AAU for the state of South Carolina. Jonsey is also listed in the Industrial Recreation's Who's Who. Upon AVCO's closing, he went to work for the United States Postal Service where he retired from the St. Andrew's branch. He was a member of the Charleston Rifle Club, BPO Elk's Lodge 442, the VFW, the Knights of Columbus, the Fleet Reserve and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Joan Daggett Jones; his sons, Chuck, Teddy and Dick and their wives Judy, Christine and Cindy. His granddaughters, Jennifer, Caitlin, Ashley and Allison as well as his great granddaughter, Savannah. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Jones are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 5, 2011, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon between 4:00 and 6:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway. The Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM at the funeral home.
