Entered into eternal rest on Saturday, March 27, 2010, Maj. Richard A. "Dick" Goldhammer, USAF (Ret.) of Charleston, SC. The relatives and friends of Maj. and Mrs. Richard A. Goldhammer USAF (Ret.) are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM WEDNESDAY, March 31, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal, with military honors, will be at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. on THURSDAY, April 1, 2010, between 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Dick was born in the Bronx, New York on May 31, 1931, a son of John B. and Eleanor Nobis Goldhammer. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School and Ole Miss University where he was the Sportswriter for the school newspaper. Dick retired from the U.S. Air Force after twenty years of faithful service. Following his military career he went to work for the First State Bank of Hialeah, subsequently Barnett Bank, and retired a Junior Vice-President for operations. Dick loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Gen. Westmorland Military Order of World Wars, the V.F.W. and St. Joseph Catholic Church. Dick is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Barbara Anne Gall Goldhammer; his sons, Stephen M. Goldhammer of Washington, DC and Richard F. Goldhammer and his wife, Carmen, of Miami, Fl; his grandsons, Eric and Emilio; and a brother, John Goldhammer and his wife, Thera, of Austin, TX .
