Richard Earl “Wildman” Evans, 75, gained his wings on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, surrounded by his daughters and loved ones.
Born in Battle Creek, MI on December 25, 1947, Richard was the son of the late Pauline Campbell George (Ellis), and TJ Evans. He graduated from Airport High School in 1966, and was a master plumber for over 40 years. After retiring, Richard owned The International Lounge in North Charleston, where he regularly cooked meals for his patrons, and was an avid pool player. He was known for his big heart and his willingness to always lend a helping hand. Richard loved his girls, Gamecocks, seafood, and dirt track racing at Savannah Oglethorpe Speedway in his younger years living in Hardeeville.
He is survived by his loving children, Gina Sample (Bill), and Lisa Lee (Travis); brother Gary George; his eight grandchildren, Jessie Kelly, Lindsey Durney, Zachary Taylor, RJ Gainey, Donavan Parnell, Jacob Parnell, Kaylie Parnell, and Ashton Lee; as well as a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and his Aunt Margaret Tuttle.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Deborah Evans; sister, Judy Timmons; brothers, Charles Timmons, Jimmy Evans, and Don Foxe; along with many special aunts, uncles, and friends; as well as by his best friend of over 60 years, Johnny Knotts.
His Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Please wear Gamecock attire in honor of Richard.
His daughters would like to express their gratitude to his care taker, Kym Garrett, and to all the staff at Agape Hospice Care.
