Reverend Herbert LeRoy Huthmacher, 90, of Johns Island, SC entered into eternal rest Thursday February 3, 2022, peacefully at home.
Rev. Huthmacher was born August 10, 1931 to the late George W. Huthmacher, Sr. and Ruby E. (Nix) Huthmacher in Charleston, SC. Reverend Huthmacher was also predeceased by his brother, George W. Huthmacher, Jr. and his son-in-law, Charles C. Sullivan, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Vivvian (Quinby) Huthmacher; his daughters, Joyce H. Sullivan (Lee Baisey), Taylor Carter and son, John Bickle. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Charles C. Sullivan III (GA Pivik), Ashley S. Dunlap (Tim), Christopher Sullivan and Jessica Sullivan, as well as three great-grandsons. His surviving siblings include August C. Huthmacher, Betty Jean Crenshaw, Helen Barto and Henry (Ralph) Huthmacher, Sr.
He was a graduate of Furman University Class of 1961 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from Southeastern Seminary with a Masters Degree in Divinity in 1968. His dedication led him to pastor numerous Southern Baptist churches throughout the southeast. Rev. Huthmacher and his wife also served as foster parents through the Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina welcoming a total of 13 foster children into their home.
Rev. Huthmacher continued to be Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of St. Andrews Parish until his death.
The relatives and friends of Rev. and Mrs. Huthmacher are invited to attend his Funeral Service 2:00 PM Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy, Charleston, with Rev. Dan Johnston presiding. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park, 3715 Azalea Dr, North Charleston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
