Raymond James Sibbald, Jr., 87, of Charleston , entered into eternal rest on the evening of Friday, July 1, 2011 . The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Sibbald, Jr., are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00PM Wednesday, July 6, 2011 , at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 5. St. Teresa Drive , Charleston . The family will receive friends from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway . The Rite of Committal will be in Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island . Raymond was born in Chicago , Illinois on October 6, 1923 , a son of the late Raymond J. and Ruth L. Sibbald. He proudly served our country for twenty years in the United States Navy, serving in World War II and the South Pacific and was a member of The American Legion Post 179. Raymond worked for over 20 years in maintenance for The Medical University of South Carolina. The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care provided by Serenity Hospice. He is survived by his wife Margaret Moore Sibbald; his eight children, Catherine Ann S. Thompson, Raymond J. Sibbald, Michael J. Sibbald, Charles A. Sibbald, Margaret S. Houghtaling, Lawrence M. Sibbald, Thomas M. Sibbald and Patricia S. Pruitt; his sister Marian S. Anglim, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
