Raymond Lenar Deantonio

August 22, 1950 — March 2, 2024

Raymond Lenar DeAntonio, 73, of Charleston, SC, husband of Sandra Osborne DeAntonio, passed away on March 2, 2024, surrounded by his family. The family will receive friends between 5:00 and 7:00 PM Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy, Charleston. Raymond’s Funeral Service will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the James A. McAlister Chapel. The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Raymond was born August 22, 1950, in Charleston, SC, to John Joseph DeAntonio and Elizabeth Raines Kanapaux DeAntonio. After graduating St. Andrew's High School in 1969, he began working in the electrical field, eventually earning his certification as a Master Electrician. Raymond worked 22 years at Transworld, Inc., where he retired as the Operations Manager. His commitment to his work fueled the growth of the Charleston Electrical Contractors Association through which he mentored many aspiring electricians. He served as perennial judge of the Electricians Fair, as well as a Board Officer, and then the Association President in 2007. Raymond was also a Honorary Life Member of the Mechanical Contractors Association of SC.

Raymond was among a loyal group of friends who founded the West Ashley Gamecock Club, where members enjoyed his lighthearted monthly newsletters and game day cookouts.

In retirement, Raymond enjoyed golf and traveling with his many life-long friends and spending time with his wife, sons and dear grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by his wife, Sandra; sons, Matthew John DeAntonio (Cindy), Bradley Allen DeAntonio (Erin), and Kevin Michael DeAntonio (Amanda); grandchildren, Raines, Madelynn, Ellis, James, Woods, and Lucas; siblings, Annette DeAntonio Webb and Mary DeAntonio Fowler.

Raymond was preceded in death by his brother, John Thomas "Tony" DeAntonio.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Charleston Electrical Contractors Association at PO Box 60688, North Charleston, SC 29419.
