POLLY HAY BAIRD Polly Hay Baird, wife of Stanley Ernest Baird, died Tuesday evening at her home in Rockville on Wadmalaw Island, SC following a brief illness. She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Lora Ann Baird and a son, Brock Ernest Baird. She was born in Charleston on August 31, l955, the daughter of Eugene Gordon Hay and Charlotte Hanckel Hay. She grew up at Coburg in Charleston and is a graduate of Ashley Hall School. She obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in computer science from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. She had recently retired after 27 years at SPAWAR. During that time, she held the position of Senior Systems Analyst and Project Manager for Financial System Reporting. In addition to her parents and mother-in-law, Kathryn Baird Smith, she is survived by two sisters; Charlene Hay (Billy) Bruce of Boykin, SC and Motte Legare Hay (Tom) Hackman of Charleston and one brother; Gordon (Genny) Hay, Jr., also of Charleston, as well as a large extended family. Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Johns Island Presbyterian Church on Bohicket Road. Following the service, friends may speak with the family in the church fellowship hall.
