Peter L. Weiland - Charleston Entered into eternal rest on Sunday, April 8, 2012, Peter L. Weiland, husband of Jeanette Weiland. Pete was born in Detroit, MI in 1930. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Jeanette, his sons, Peter, Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Madison, AL, and Paul and wife, Kitty, of Columbia, SC. as well as 4 wonderful grandchildren, Carter, Cooper, Anna Grace and Matthew. His family was his top priority in life. His church, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, was his second priority. Pete was an extremely active member and served on the Finance committee, was a member of the Men's Club, ushered and cooked for many of the special events. Pete served in the US Army in Berlin, Germany, during the Korean War and was a member of the Berlin Veteran's Association. He was later employed by Gulf Oil/Chevron for 30 years and held many positions in various states. Pete was President of the Chevron Retirees Association, a member of the National Exchange Club, Society of Mayflower Descendants and the Elk's Club. He was an active volunteer in many organizations including the Special Olympics, the Homeless Shelter and the Library Association. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Weiland are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 14, 2012, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. The family will receive friends on Friday evening betwen 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the James a. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy.
