Peter Steven Perrine (Pete) of James Island, SC passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 4, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Wilkes Perrine for the past 9 years. Pete was born August 18, 1978, in Rumson, New Jersey. He attended Christian Brothers Academy and Monmouth University. Pete was passionate about fishing, photography and carpentry. He selflessly gave of himself to help others in any way possible. Pete was formerly an EMT with the Sea Bright Emergency Medical Services. He was the youngest Chief of the Sea Bright, NJ Fire Department and was actively involved in the rescue mission on September 11, 2001, in New York City. Pete most recently was employed by the SC State Ports Authority, working in Operations. He was affectionately known to his family as Boa. Pete loved his dogs, Buddy and Slinky, fervently!
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, Peter Harry Perrine of Sea Bright, NJ and his mother, Bonnie Gray Perrine of Atlantic Highlands, NJ as well as his older sisters, Kimberly Gray Perrine of Mount Pleasant, SC and Kristin Petra Perrine of Rumson, NJ and his nieces, Lily (Kristin) and Gabby (Kim). Pete is also survived by Elizabeth’s mother, Lillian Pitts Grimes and her brother, Thomas Goodyear Grimes.
He was preceded in death by the late Emma and Lester Perrine of Sea Bright, NJ; the late August Hohnhold of Lavallette, NJ and the late Elsie Wroncy or Rumson, NJ.
The family will receive friends between 3:00 and 5:00 PM Friday, September 9, 2022, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. A reception to celebrate his life will follow at the James Island Yacht Club beginning at 6:00 PM.
