Peter Petro Botzis, 77, husband of Shirley Smith Botzis, a retired Pharmacist with MUSC and veteran of the US Army, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018. The relatives and friends of Peter and Shirley Botzis are invited to attend his Visitation between 5:00 and 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. The Trisagion service will be held at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private.
Mr. Botzis was born in Tarpon Springs, Florida December 9, 1940, the son of Goldie Saclarides and Peter Botzis. A graduate of the St. Andrew's High School Class of 1958, he received his B.S. in Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina. He was the former owner of Northbridge Drugs in West Ashley. Peter was a member of the Elks Lodge, and was also active at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity. He was a loving family man who enjoyed family vacations, travel, cruises, Gamecocks sports, and Folly Beach. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Peter is survived by his wife of 53 years; his 2 sons: David Botzis and wife Angie, and Michael Botzis and wife Marisa; 4 Grandchildren: Elliott Botzis (Emily), Tori Botzis, Kristal Pitts (Robby), Danielle Craven (Randy); 5 Great-grandchildren; and his sister, Maria Kiel, and a host of extended family. He is also survived by three very special friends: Amy Thompson, Ken Metts, and Sally Hendricks.
