Pauline Joseph Sottile, 86, widow of Vincent N. Sottile, Sr., entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 1, 2017. The relatives and friends of Pauline J. Sottile are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, 120 Broad St. The Rite of Committal, at St Lawrence Cemetery, will be private. The family will receive friends at the Cathedral, 120 Broad St., Wednesday evening between 5:00 and 8:00 PM. The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Pauline Joseph Sottile was born June 29, 1930, in Georgetown, South Carolina, the daughter of Thomas Joseph and Barbara Nahra Joseph. She graduated from Winyah High School and Columbia College where she earned a degree in elementary education. Her 40 year teaching career was spent in Charleston at Bennett, Mitchell, Courtney and the Cathedral Catholic Schools. Pauline's latter years were spent at Memminger Elementary where she completed her career as a math teacher.In addition to her career, she was an active participant in numerous civic organizations to include the American Cancer Society, the Catholic Womens' Club and the American Lebanese Association of South Carolina. Pauline devoted her volunteer time to helping others, especially the disadvantaged, where she served meals to the homeless at the America Street Neighborhood House. She was a devout Catholic, daily communicant, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and in the summer, Stella Maris Catholic Church on Sullivan's Island. Her family was always her highest priority. She is survived by her twins, to whom she was a loving mother, Vincent N. Sottile, Jr. and Mary Sottile Regner, and their spouses, Sharon Cochrane Sottile and Major General Michael R. Regner, USMC, (Ret.); 8 grandchildren: Major Michael Regner (Erin), Vincent Sottile III (Lauren), Julia Regner Linton (John), Thomas Sottile, John Regner (Katie), Paul Sottile, Joseph Sottile (girlfriend, Rebecca) and David Sottile; and 6 great-grandchildren: Mikey, Caroline, Charlie, Jack, Fritz and Teddy. Pauline was the youngest of seven children. She is pre-deceased by brothers Dr. John A. Joseph Sr., Nimmer T. Joseph, Dr. David T. Joseph and sister Zion Joseph Amann. She is survived by brother, Dr. Paul Joseph Sr. and sister, Helen Joseph Walsh.She was loved by over 200 nieces and nephews, cousins and in-laws, and countless friends and neighbors.
