Paula Ramona Adams

Paula Ramona Adams, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at MUSC with her husband of 37 years at her side. She was born in Athens, Georgia on December 1, 1946, to Martha Casey Norman and H. C. Norman.

Paula received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia. She was an interior designer in Athens, Georgia for many years and in Charleston since 1990. Paula was an enthusiastic gardener, ravenous reader, excellent cook and a true doggie lover. Her zest for life, infectious laugh, one-line zingers and her passion for fun will long be remembered. She loved her family, especially her sons and her grands (as she called them).

Paula is survived by her husband, Thomas R. “Tommy” Adams of Charleston; two sons, Doug Mathews (Melissa) of Decatur, GA and Grey Mathews of Athens, GA; six grandchildren: Eleanor Mathews, Martha Jane Mathews, Jackson Mathews, Abigail Mathews, Wyatt Mathews and Thomas Mathews; one brother, Nathan Bullard (Jill) of Woodstock, VT; three sisters, Yvonne Bullard, MD of Panama City, FL, Becky Bandea (Claudio) of Sarasota, FL and Tammy Bullard of Atlanta, GA along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Lana Kaye Norman Devitt.

A Celebration of Life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, June 18, 2021, at Grace Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street, Downtown Charleston. A Reception will follow at the William Aiken House, 456 King Street, Charleston.

Flowers will be accepted and Memorials may be made to Pet Helpers, 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
