Paul Gilbert Rogers

July 14, 1973 — November 10, 2016

Captain Paul Gilbert Rogers, 43, of Charleston, passed away on November 10, 2016 in his home surrounded by love and family. The relatives and friends of Paul and Katrina Rogers are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 13, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service at the Charleston Maritime Center, 10 Warfside St, Charleston, SC 29401. Paul was born in Flint, MI on July 14, 1973 and moved to Charleston at the young age of 13. He was a graduate of James Island High School and spent all his time with blue marlins and diesel engines. As an avid fisherman and a Captain of sport fish boats, Paul traveled the world. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, love for his friends and family, and as his buddies would say “not really listening to what anyone said". Paul was a loving, devoted father and husband. He was the smart “go-to” guy for all of his friends and people in the boating industry. Paul had a very unique style in comparison to the rest of the captains in the marina. He loved shopping for shoes, shirts, and “skinny” jeans that were still too loose on his slender frame. Everyone who knew Paul had a special, individual relationship with him. He was “a proud, strong, intelligent, semi-clueless, best friend” to many. The relationship he held most precious was to his true love, Katrina. They were wed September 14, 2013.  Their love will certainly live on forever, especially in the son they had January 11, 2015, who already has his dad’s sense of style. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Katrina (Johnson) Rogers; his one-year-old son, Charlie; sister Ann-Marie and Brad Boyles; sister Denise Byse and husband Mike Stephen; parents, John & Louise Rogers; in-laws, Mark & Teri Johnson; brother-in-law, Adam and Jennie Johnson; brother-in-law, Alex Johnson and fiancé Stef Andresen; two nieces and four nephews. Paul will forever be in our hearts and prayers. Time to reel ‘em in, Capt. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a college fund for Charlie. Any donation can be made out to Charles Rogers and sent to 447 Cessna Ave, Charleston, SC 29407.
