Paul Wesley Parker Sr., of James Island, passed away Friday, September 2, 2016. The relatives and friends of Mr. Paul W. Parker, Sr., are invited to attend his Funeral Service at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston. Burial will follow at 2:00 PM, at Stafford Baptist Churchyard, 9501 Two Sisters Ferry Rd. Furman, SC 29921. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Friday, September 9, 2016, at the funeral home, and also 30 minutes prior to the funeral on Saturday. Paul was born in Inverness, FL, on September 16, 1932, a son to the late Leroy and Donie Parker. As a child his family relocated to Waycros,s GA where he spent most of his childhood. In his early 20's he enlisted in the army during the Korean War and was a member of the 82nd airborne. Paul moved to Charleston after marrying his wife Sarah. He worked at the navy Shipyard on Nuclear Submarines until he retired in the early 1970's. Paul had several successful businesses; he ran shrimp boats, Paul Parker seafood, a TV repair shop and a heat and air business. He was a man of many talents and quite brilliant! Paul was a loving husband, son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend. He touched the lives of all those he met. He devoted his life to the service of others and did so selflessly. Paul loved his family and enjoyed being out on the water & fishing. Work was his favorite pastime. Paul is survived by his children, Paul Wesley 'Wes' Parker Jr., Sidney Leroy 'Lee' Parker and his wife, Lesa and Sarah Jane Parker flowers and her husband, William; Grandchildren, Virginia Parker Owen and her husband, Matthew, Zachary J. Parker and his wife, Heidi, Christopher A. Parker and Carmen E. Parker; Great Grandchildren, Asher D. Parker and Tad P. Owen; his siblings, James Parker and his wife Sue, Mary Parker Southern and Bessie Parker Ott and his sister in law, Mary (Meg) Ella Goethe Norrris and her husband James. Paul was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Jane Goethe Parker, son, William Howard Parker and his brothers, Kenneth and George Parker. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Lowcountry Senior Center 865 Riverland Dr. Charleston, SC 29412.
