It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Paul William Bohac, who left this world peacefully on July 20, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on June 9, 1953, in New York, NY, Dr. Paul lived a life dedicated to helping others as a gifted Doctor of Optometry. He served the communities of Johns Island, Kiawah, Seabrook, and Wadmalaw Islands with compassion throughout his career.

Dr. Paul was a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. Before his career in Optometry, Dr. Paul graduated Magna cum Laude with a B.A in Biology. He worked in environmental protection and maintained a lifelong interest in protecting the earth.

Dr. Paul is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Janice Ryan Bohac, son Eric Bohac, and daughter-in-law Karen Guillen Cuevas Bohac. Together, they created a legacy of love and support that touched the lives of many.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 28, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church (6650 Dorchester Road, North Charleston). The Rite of Committal will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston). The family will receive friends for a celebration of life from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home (1620 Savannah Highway, Charleston)

In his honor, we invite all who knew Dr. Paul to share fond memories and celebrate the life of a man who dedicated his life to serving others. His spirit will continue to guide us, and his memory will forever live on in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, the Bohac family requests donations for the World Wildlife Fund ( www.worldwildlife.org) in Dr. Paul's name.
