Patty Jones

Patricia Johnson Jones, 75, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, widow of Richard L. Jones, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Sunday, August 23, 2015. The relatives and friends of Patricia J. "Patty" Jones are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Christ Our King Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Wednesday evening at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM. Patty was born on August 4, 1940 to Claude M. and Mary K. Johnson in Charleston, SC. She was the youngest of 10 children and made quite an entrance into the world weighing in at 15 lbs 5 ½ oz. Patty was a 1958 graduate of Bishop England High School and married Richard "Dick" L. Jones on September 2, 1961. She enjoyed staying home and raising her children. Patty had a strong Catholic faith that was instilled by her mother. She was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church for over 50 years, where she attended daily Mass and managed the Madonna Shop for the church during the early years of the parish. Patty was a substitute teacher at Christ Our King and Moultrie schools. She served as chairman of the annual bazaar at Christ Our King School and was a past board member for the Bishop England Alumni Association. Patty was Vice-President of the Mount Pleasant Arch confraternity of Our Lady of Prompt Succor (O.L.O.P.S.) and also served as Co-chairman of the Mt. Pleasant Sesquicentennial Celebration. For many years she enjoyed the weekly Monday ritual of attending Mass at The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist followed by lunch and shopping with her sisters. Patty also enjoyed attending First Friday Adoration. Children loved a visit to Gram's (aka 'Mama Jones') house as they were sure to get access to the goody cabinet where all the candy and snack foods were stored. Patty loved decorating her house for the holidays throughout the year. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia M. Jones, son Richard L. Jones, Jr.(Tracy), three grandsons, Trey, Jesse and Thomas Jones, three sisters Ann Marie J. Wingate, Natalie J. Knisley(Gene) and Nancy J. Miller and sisters-in-law Martha C. Johnson, Imogene U. Johnson, and Jean Lewis(Robert) and brother-in-law Paul Jones(Jerrie) along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 32 years, her brothers Claude M. Johnson Jr., William K. Johnson, Lt. Col. Austin B. Johnson and Martin C. Johnson and sisters Mary J. Ferrara and Katherine L Johnson and her dear friend Marguerite Ortmann.
