Mr. Patrick J. "Chilli" Birt, 49, passed peacefully on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at Roper Hospital in Charleston. Patrick is survived by his parents, Vernon and Charlotte Birt; siblings: Maria B. Parnow, Vernon E. "Bucky" Birt, Jr., Charles M. "Chuck" Birt, and Karen B. Patterson (Will); seven nephews and four nieces; longtime girlfriend, Angie Langford and their shared companion Stella.Patrick was born in Columbia, SC and spent his entire life in Charleston, graduating from Bishop England High School in 1986. He was fortunate to retire at an early age and started Two Brothers Properties with his twin, Chuck. Patrick also enjoyed volunteering at St. Francis Hospital. He was an active member of the Charleston Rifle Club, as well as the Exchange Club of North Charleston where he enjoyed cooking at the fair. Patrick loved to travel and never met a stranger. He loved spending time with close friends and family. He loved all his nieces and nephews dearly and had a special place in heart for his grand nephews, Brayden and Franklin, both born within the last year. Patrick's visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 23, 2017, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 6650 Dorchester Road, North Charleston, SC. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, 7113 Rivers Ave., North Charleston, SC. The family would like to thank Dr. Austin J. Ball, MD and the medical staff at Roper Hospital for their dedication and care.
