Patricia Kasell

Patricia "Patty" Igoe Kasell, 75, died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday April 10th, 2012. She was born in Charleston, SC on March 8, 1937, one of 3 children born to Virginia Forbes Igoe and George Humphry Igoe, Sr. Patty graduated from Bishop England High School in 1955, to go on to a long and dedicated career in the legal field. She worked for the Honorable Senator Ernest "Fritz" Hollings before joining the U.S. District Court in 1979, where she worked for the Honorable Falcon Black Hawkins until her official retirement in 2003. She was affectionately known to all in the Charleston legal community as "Judge Patty." After her retirement she returned to work to assist Senator Hollings at the Medical University of South Carolina, where they worked together faithfully until the time of her death. Patty was devoted to family and friends, a generous person, with a loving heart who always gave of herself. She was a mother to many, and was a truly dignified Southern Lady. Patty is the widow of Bobby Allen Kasell. She is survived by her loving daughter Francie, of the home and her brother Humphry Igoe Jr., and was predeceased by her brother Jimmie Igoe. She was the devoted Aunt to several nieces and nephews as well as great nieces, and nephews and many beloved cousins. Her great joy in her later years was her faithful four-legged companion, Sir Oliver the Dog.The relatives and friends of Patricia Kasell are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Friday, April 13, 2012, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 89 Hasell St., Charleston, SC. The Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends this Thursday evening betwen 5:00 and 7:00 PM at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30PM at the funeral home.
