Pat Campbell

March 2, 1949 — October 20, 2022

John Patrick Campbell, Sr “Pat”, 73, of Charleston, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, October 20, 2022, after an exhausting and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Pat was born on March 2, 1949 to Raymond R. and Lucy S. Campbell in Charleston, SC where he was raised, loved and admired by many. He had a zest for life and his generous, caring, fun-loving, and fiercely protective spirit was felt by so many friends, and family during his lifetime and will surely continue to resonate through his memory for the days/years to come.

Pat was a 1967 graduate of Bishop England High School and a retired brother of the International Longshoreman Association - Local 1771. He was an athlete in his younger years (football, softball) which continued through his retirement (golf) prior to his illness. He credited his athletic mindset for giving him the ability to focus on health and strength during his fight with pancreatic cancer, and his lifelong spiritual relationship with the Lord to hold his hand alongside his many family members and friends as the battle with cancer came to a close.

Pat is the co-founder and creator of Island Made Outfitters, LLC, a not for profit organization that was instrumental in the creation of the nonprofit Islands Against Cancer, Inc. whose focus is to assist cancer patients with navigation and advocacy of care.

Pat was a loving husband to his wife Roxanne of 18 years, as well as, an amazing father to his sons John Patrick Campbell, Jr. (Kathy), Chris Raffield, John Albrecht, and daughters Keri Campbell Seay (David), Rachel Campbell, and Chelsea Raffield. Aside from being survived by his wife and children, Pat also leaves behind his three granddaughters, Michael Ashley Seay, Kylie Seay and Emma Adams. These three were the light of his life and his light shall shine brightly through them for years to come.

Pat is survived by sisters Betty Burkhardt, Barbara Wade (Jerry), brother Raymond R. Campbell, Jr.(Maria) and numerous much loved nephews and nieces; and preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lucy Campbell, and brothers Thomas and Barry Campbell.

Family and friends are invited to join the celebration of Pat Campbell’s remarkable life on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Church of the Nativity at 11:30am - 1061 Folly Road, Charleston SC 29412. The burial will take place immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery on James Island with a celebration of life reception at the James Island Yacht Club.

Friends and family will also be received at James A McAlister - 1620 Savannah Hwy, Charleston SC on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 5-7 pm - for visitation. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM.

The family asks that any donations made in Pat Campbell’s honor go towards Islands Against Cancer, Inc. to continue his mission of helping others through their battle with cancer.
